This highway never ceases to amaze me. I could drive it every day and never tire of the scenery. At one moment you are at sea level watching waves crash on the shore. In the next moment you are driving through a eucalyptus forest inhaling that intoxicating aroma.

This country is just incredible. One minute you are in almost absolute isolation then the next you are in the City of San Francisco. We had both been to San Francisco before so we weren't sure if we were going to spend a great deal of time in the big city. Once we took the walk across and back on the Golden Gate Bridge our minds were made up-get out of the city and back to Highway 1. As exciting and beautiful San Francisco is we longed for the open road again.
