Piedras Blancas and the Elephant Seals

When we were camping at Big Sur we ran into several people who told us we had to stop at Piedras Blancas where the elephant seals had gathered.  Apparently it was birthing time and thousands of seals had gathered along the coast-especially at Piedras Blancas.  It was incredible seeing all these creatures in their own environment.

We quietly walked the path and watched the babies crying out to be fed and the attentive mothers watching out for them.

We also saw the very large intimidating males barking for mates –I couldn't believe how fast something so large could move to get to his new mate.

This was another one of those places where you just marvel at what the Universe presents to us on a daily basis .

From the elephants seals to a gorgeous drive along Highway 1-I haven’t found any portion of this highway that isn't gorgeous!

Happy Trails to you...our next destination : Hearst Castle.
